Turning a van into a "mobile laundry" to allow homeless people to clean their laundry and rewire
Orange Sky was born in 2014 from two 20-year-olds, Nic Marchesi and Lucas Patchett, who installed some washing machines and dryers in the back of their old van, visiting the Brisbane parks to wash and drying clothes free of homeless people. Beyond the simple laundry, they have established moments of exchange. Orange Sky now has more than 1,000 volunteers in several Australian cities and washes more than six tons of laundry each week. More importantly, volunteers have participated in more than 100,000 hours of conversations to date!
