Les Kaps

France / Paris

Boosting solidarity with a student network of flatsharing at a reduced price in exchange for social actions carried out in working-class neighborhoods

The Kaps allow young people to live in colocation and to engage with the inhabitants in popular neighborhoods. Innovative and original concept, inspired by the Kots-à-Projets, in Belgium, the Kaps are based on a simple principle: each colocation corresponds a solidarity action conducted with the inhabitants, to promote living together. The roommates, who are called "kapseurs", carry out solidarity actions for and with their neighbors during the school year, from September to June. In practice, it represents about 3 to 5 hours of volunteering per week.
